Types of Rocks and Minerals
Did you know that many rocks and minerals are the same. The rock cycle or the series of processes in which a rock forms, changes from one type of rock to another, is destroyed, and forms back up by geological purposes. Erosion, weathering, and deposition are ways that rocks change their form. Different types of rocks are found in different parts of the earth. The three types of rocks are sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rock. A metamorphic rocks are rocks in which the structure, texture, or composition of a rock has changed. Igneous rocks form when hot, liquid rock, or magma cools and solidifies. Sedimentary rock is formed when water, wind, ice, sunlight, and gravity cause erosion these fragments of rock are sediments. Eventually, sediment is put into layers and forms sedimentary rock. If you want to know what type of rock you have to use composition. Composition is the identification or chemical makeup of a rock. A rocks composition depends on the minerals that the rock contains.
